Helpful Little Friends




 Scattered throughout our yard are 
lots of buckets and containers for flowers and shrubs

 This cutie hangs on the front porch
 

 I have been seeing these guys hanging around lately...hum?!



 Its called a Dark Eyed Junco
I went to water the flowers this morning and there it was
A cute little blue egg!

Birds are a really important aspect of a healthy ecosystem and since we have cleared our property of debris and planted more trees and flowers, 
we have seen a substantial rise in the variety of birds that visit and nest.

I recently joined a citizen science project called NestWatch 
which tracks status and trends in the reproductive biology of birds across the United States.

This would be a really fun project to do with your kids or Grandchildren, 
if you have nesting birds in your yard

There are many other citizen science projects projects like this 
going on all over the United states
